Visit from the Lt. Governor
Above, Rodney Nolan, Lieutenant Governor of Illinois Evelyn Sanguinetti, Mayor Don Wagner, and Stacy Hamm pose for a picture before Sanguinetti and Wagner discuss local concerns Thursday. Mayor Wagner also presented Sanguinetti with the key to the city. Sanguinetti was making the rounds in southern Illinois Thursday speaking to city officials about local issues and concerns. “You need government officials who are accessible and we want you to know that we are accessible and we are working for you,” added Sanguinetti.

Red Hill Unit 10 seeks to fill vacancy on school board
BRIDGEPORT - The Red Hill Unit 10 school board is looking for another member.

While Chad Hill and Trent Masterson ran unopposed in the April Consolidated election, filling two open seats, one more opening needs to be filled.

The board is looking for people who want to serve on the board, however there is one catch. They cannot be from the Bridgeport district.

"It can be in any district except the Bridgeport district. We're restricted to having three board members per district and Bridgeport already has three, so they can be from any other part of our district," Brashear said.

The Bridgeport district includes the city of Bridgeport and a small rural section.

The board would like for candidate to write a letter of interest, telling who they are and why they're interested in being on the board and what kind of background they have. The deadline for receiving those letters is May 14.

The board could appoint a seventh board member at its May 21 meeting. Serving on the school board is a volunteer position.
