|Pepple School comes alive in Lanterman Park|
|BRIDGEPORT - The Lawrence County Historical Society "school marm" Anne Weed welcomed approximately 65 Red Hill Unit 10 second grade students to join her in the relocated Pepple School at Bridgeport's Lanterman Park recently.|
The second-graders walked from their school building to the park accompanied by their teachers and a classroom assistant. Weed rang her school bell to get the attention of the students.

|Assessment officer seeks to update
| LAWRENCEVILLE - Lawrence County Chief Assessment Officer Linda A. Kissel is asking all taxpayers who have received their new E-911 address to notify her office so their information can be updated on county records.|
"You are responsible to notify this office of your new address so that tax statements can be sent to the proper address," Kissel said in a news release. "There are numerous taxpayers who have not notified us of their new E-911 address in rural St. Francisville, Sumner, Flat Rock or Bridgeport, and it is possible that their tax statements will be returned to us as their forwarding order has expired."

|Salukis' Western, Indians' Holmes move on|
|NEWTON - Two Lawrence County athletes will participate against the best of the best later this week, at the Illinois High School Association Class A track and field finals. Lawrenceville High School senior Heather Holmes will be making her first trip to Charleston in the 1,600-meter run while Red Hill High School junior Jamesha Western will return in both the discus and shot put.|
Both qualified for the finals with their showing in sectional competition hosted by Newton High School on Friday. The sectional meet was twice delayed by weather, for nearly two hours in all.
