VU Winds and Percussion Concert set for April 23
VINCENNES - The Vincennes University Department of Music will present "An Evening of Winds and Percussion" at 7:30 p.m. on April 23, at the Red Skelton Performing Arts Center.  

The performance is free and the public is invited to attend.

The concert will feature a wide variety of traditional and contemporary wind literature and will showcase the VU Brass Ensemble, the VU Woodwind Ensemble, and the VU Concert Band.

Selections will include Morton Gould's American Salute, transcribed for band by Philip J. Lang; Sunrise by Jack Fulton (world premiere); Paradiso by Robert W. Smith; American Barndance by Richard L. Saucedo; Adoramus Te, Christe by Orlando Di Lasso; Allegro from Georg Philipp Telemann's "Canonic Sonata"; Gavotte from William Boyce's "Symphony No. 4"; Prayer by Cesar Franck; Jupiter from Gustav Holst's "The Planets"' Yesterday by John Lennon and Paul McCartney; Prelude from Alexander Tcherepnin's "Trio Pour Flutes"; Alan Menkin's Belle from "Beauty and the Beast," arranged for flute trio by Rebecca Schnapf; Leon Jessel's Parade of the Tin Soldiers, arranged for mixed woodwind quartet by Robert Cavally; Luigi Zaninelli's Mirror Dance from "Three Children's Dances," arranged by Eric Bowling; and Elton John's Circle of Life, arranged for mixed woodwind quintet by Rebecca Schnapf.
