ERBA taking applications for summer energy help
LAWRENCEVILLE - The Embarras River Basin Agency Inc. (ERBA) will begin taking applications for its Summer Energy Assistance Program (SEAP) one week from today, on July 15.

Applications will be accepted through July 26, or when funds are exhausted.

ERBA organizers said SEAP is targeted to at-risk households; people with medical conditions benefiting from cooling (must have a letter from doctor within the past 90 days), families with children young than 60 months as of the date of application, disabled, or elderly people age 60 and above.

Assistance will only be utility payments for electric service. ERBA officials noted that funds are limited, so people making application should, at the time of their appointment, have copies of Social Security cards for all household members, the last 30-day income, and a recent gas and electric bill.

Income guidelines are a follows: for household size of one, the 30-day income must not exceed $1,436; for two, 30-day income is $1,939; three, $2,441; four, $2,944; five, $3,446; six, $3,949. For families with more than six people, add $502.50.

Lawrence County residents wishing to apply for SEAP should contact the Lawrenceville ERBA office at 943-2938.
