Arrest made in 2009 child homicide
VINCENNES - An arrest has been made in connection with a May 2009 child homicide in Vincennes.

According to Vincennes Police Chief Dustin Luking, Krista A. Brown-Bailey, 29, formerly of Vincennes and Lawrence County, was arrested by the Columbus, Ohio Police Department SWAT team about 1:30 p.m. Friday.

She was arrested on a Knox County, Ind., warrant and charged with "battery causing death; victim, less than 14 years of age, a Class A felony." Brown is accused of battery, resulting in the death of her, 17-month-old son, Daniel Scott Brown II.

Brown is being held in the Franklin County, Ohio jail pending extradition back to Knox County, where she will be held on $50,000 cash-only bond.

Vincennes police said on May 6, 2009, at about 11:48 a.m., police, fire, and EMS units responded to 32 Autumn Ridge Lane in Vincennes after receiving a call regarding an unresponsive child. The child could not be revivied and a subsequent medical and criminal investigation began, which concluded the death was a homicide.

Early Wednesday, a probable cause hearing was held in Knox Superior Court and an arrest warrant was issued for Brown.

The Vincennes Police Department was assisted by Indiana State Police, Knox County division of the Indiana Department of Child Services, Knox County prosecutor's office, Knox County coroner's office and the Columbus, Ohio police department.
