Residents warned of another scam
LAWRENCEVILLE - Lawrence County Sheriff Russell Adams is warning citizens of an ongoing scam.

Adams says calls from 773-654-4530 are bogus. He says the calls are from people claiming to be from the Chicago area and representing a company called E-Loans.

Adams says the schemers are contacting people and telling them that they have a pre-approved loan, but need a security deposit to get the $5,000 loan.

"Consumer reports are numerous on the fraud by these (people)," Adams said, "But no one ever receives the $5,000 loan or their security money back."

According to Adams, some people have been bilked out of more than $700.
