Local man faces attempted murder charge
LAWRENCEVILLE - A Lawrenceville man who was already in Lawrence County Jail now faces additional charges of attempted first-degree murder and aggravated domestic battery.

The Lawrence County Sheriff's Department says Tommy D. Shoulders, 38, was charged Thursday, while already locked up on previous charges.

According to court records, the attempted murder charge is is a Class X felony. The aggravated domestic battery charge is a Class 2 felony.

Bail for the new charges is $100,000 cash, according to the sheriff's department.

The new charges stem from an incident on Jan. 15, when Shoulders allegedly attacked a female in St. Francisville.

Lawrence County Sheriff Russell Adams said the case is being handled by St. Francisville Police Chief Billy Darnell, as well as the Illinois State Police.

Shoulders has been in Lawrence County Jail since Jan. 16 on charges of aggravated battery from a previous case.

He was taken into custody that day, while walking along railroad tracks east of Lawrenceville.

Shoulders is scheduled to appear in Lawrence County Circuit Court at 11 a.m. March 19 regarding the most recent charges
