ISP release results from seat belt patrols
EFFINGHAM - The Illinois State Police (ISP) has released enforcement figures from the Occupant Restraint Enforcement Patrols conducted on Thursday in District 12, which includes Lawrence County.

A total of 40 safety belt citations were issued, along with one child restraint citation and nine warnings.

State police officials said while most motorists know safety belts save lives, some ignore their safety and that of their families, by neglecting to use safety belts and child restraint devices.

The patrols reinforce the occupant protection message by targeting those who choose to ignore the law.
