Beard shoots 1 over for LHS golfers
MOUNT CARMEL - Senior Scott Beard shot a 1-over-par 37, helping Lawrenceville High School's golf team equal its best score of the season Tuesday in a three-team meet at Mount Carmel Municipal Golf Course.

The Indians shot 171, matching their scores from Aug. 27 at Flora and Sept. 4 at Oblong. Mount Carmel's junior varsity team shot 175 and Red Hill shot 196.

Beard has been the Indians' top player in seven of nine outings this season. However, his 1-over-par round of 37 was his best score of the season.

"It was great to see Scott reap the rewards of his hard work," LHS coach Dave Berry said. "He had an excellent round today to finish as medalist. He played very consistent throughout the match, managed the course real well and finished strong with a birdie on the ninth hole."

Tanner Gray (41), Austin DeLoriea (46) and Jeffery Baxter (47) also scored for the Tribe. LHS tossed out the scores of Hoa Bobe (50) and Gage Hulen (57).

"We were very happy with the play of Tanner (Gray), Austin (DeLoriea) and Jeffrey (Baxter) today," Berry said. "It was a very solid performance. Hoa (Bobe) struggled with the short game today. We don't play again until Monday so we'll have plenty of time to get him back in the groove."

Zach Breault shot an 8-over-par 44 to pace Red Hill. The Salukis' Morgan Tewell (47), Jacob Abell (52) and Austin Hawkins (53) also scored. Red Hill did not use the 56 of Andrew Buchanan or the 63 of Trey Aguirre.

Daniel Dyno led the Mount Carmel JV team with a 39. Beau Johnson and Blake Stipp both shot 45 while Nick Deisher scored with a 46. The Golden Aces tossed out Evan Tread's 47 and the 53 of Paul Ruth.

The Indians, Salukis, Flora and Palestine are slated to play Monday at Flora.
