Robinson pounds Salukis, 69-30
ROBINSON - Red Hill High School's basketball team had more turnovers than shot attempts Tuesday, in a 69-30 Little Illini Conference loss to host Robinson.

The Salukis managed just 27 shots in the game, making 12, while committing 30 turnovers.

Robinson (6-0, 2-0 LIC) was never in trouble, after scoring the first 12 points of the game. The Maroons led 23-6, 42-9 and 58-18 at the quarter stops, before being outscored 12-11 in the final stanza.

"They're good," Red Hill coach Bryan Havill said of the Maroons. "They're athletic. They're superior to us at every position. But we don't do a lot of things well."

The Salukis (1-6, 0-2 LIC) had nine turnovers in the opening period and 14 more in the second, while the Maroons turned the ball over just three times in the first half. In the meantime, Robinson was hitting 17 of 30 shots from the floor in the first two quarters.

Senior Matthew Young was a bright spot for the Salukis, as he hit four of six shots, including three of four from 3-point range, on his way to scoring 13 points. Young was slowed by foul trouble, as he picked up three in the first period.

Jake Allen added eight points for Red Hill, while Steven Ramsaran scored five. Noah Puntney and Dalton Murray scored two each to round out the scoring.

Balance was a positive for the Maroons, as four starters reached double figures, accounting for 58 of the team's 69 points. Michael Adkande led the way with 16 points, as he hit six of nine shots, while Cory Blount added 15, Derrick Nicholas hit all seven of his field goal attempts on the way to 14 points, while Aaron Siler bagged a trio of 3-point baskets and scored 13.

Robinson had an easy time in the junior varsity game as well, posting a 54-14 win. Tanner Stoltz led the Salukis with six points.

Red Hill returns to LIC competition Friday, when it hosts Olney.
