LAWRENCEVILE - The high school track and field season came to an end for Lawrence County teams Friday, as neither Lawrenceville or Red Hill was able to advance anyone from the Illinois High School Association sectional meet at Ed Loeb Field.

Red Hill scored seven points in the meet to place 12th among the 15 teams that scored, while LHS finished with six points, which tied for 13th.

Robinson won the meet with 131 points, while Newton was second with 113. Teutopolis (71), Casey (58) and Altamont (41) completed the top five.

Red Hill's Tyler Tewell scored a pair of fifth-place finishes. Tewell ran the 400-meter dash in 53.35 seconds and ran the 800-meter run in 2:12.58.

The Salukis also had a fourth-place finish from Garrett Harper in the 110-meter high hurdles (18.58).

Sixth-place finishers for Red Hill were Connor Holmes in the 1,600 (4:47.02) and Andrew Tabler in the high jump (5-8).

Lawrenceville's points came from seniors Max Loeb and Cody Fiscus. Loeb placed fourth in the shot put with a toss of 44-9 1/2. Fiscus ran fifth in the 100-meter dash in 12.33 seconds.

The top two finishers in each event Friday qualified to run in the state finals this week in Charleston.
