Junior high baseball
Braves hang on, nip Salukis, 11-10
BRIDGEPORT - Parkview Junior High School's baseball team scored eight runs in the top of the second inning Thursday, then held on for an 11-10 over rival Red Hill at the Tank Farm.

It was the third straight win for the Braves, who evened their record at 4-4. Red Hill fell to 0-4 on the season.

The Braves, who scored three times in the sixth to take a lead of 11-5, barely clung to the victory as the Salukis rallied for four runs in the seventh inning.

Dylan McGuire started for PJHS, pitched the first four innings and earned the win after allowing five runs. Connor O'Dell pitched the final three innings and was credited with a save.

Danie Weger had three hits for the Braves. McGuire and Cale Powell contributed two apiece, while Justin Winkles added one.

Landen Ray pitched 1 2/3 innings and suffered the loss for Red Hill. Mitchell Nash tossed 4 1/3 innings in relief, while Josh Phelums pitched the seventh inning.

Phelums led the Salukis with four hits. Corbin Shoulders added two and Ray one.
