Basketball Capital Classic
Pairings set for 25th annual Thanksgiving tourney
LAWRENCEVILLE - Pairings for next month's 25th annual Basketball Capital Classic presented by the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce have been announced.

Dual round-robin tournaments will take place at both Red Hill and Lawrenceville high schools on Nov. 28 and 29, with the final session scheduled for the new LHS gym on Nov. 29.

At Red Hill, opposing teams will also include Olney, Teutopolis and Fairfield.

The pool at Lawrenceville will also include Mount Carmel, Marshall and Pinckneyville.

At the conclusion of pool play, four cross-pool games will begin starting at 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 29. The seventh-place game will kick off the session, followed by the fifth-place game at 5 p.m. The tournament will conclude with the third-place game at 6:30 p.m. and the championship game at 8.

The Indians will begin their season on Nov. 28, with a 12:30 p.m. game against Pinckneyville, coached by former Indians' boss Bobby Waggoner. Mount Carmel and Marshall will open the tournament at 11 a.m.

In the Nov. 28 evening session at LHS, the Indians will face Marshall at 6:30 p.m., while Pinckneyville and Mount Carmel will conclude the session.

Pool play at LHS will conclude Nov. 29 with LHS facing Mount Carmel at 10 a.m. Pinckneyville and Marshall will square off at 11:30.

Red Hill begins play at 11 a.m. on Nov. 28 by facing Olney. Defending champ Teutopolis and Fairfield will battle in the second game.

The evening session on Nov. 28 at Bridgeport has Olney facing Teutopolis in the 6 p.m. opening game, while the host Salukis will follow against Fairfield,

Pool play at Red Hill will conclude Nov. 29 with RHHS playing T-Town to open the session at 10 a.m. Olney and Fairfield will follow in the final game at RHHS.

Tickets to the tournament are available at the Lawrence County Camber of Commerce, 619 12th Street.
