Parkview falls in finals of 7th grade girls tournament
ALBION - Homestanding Albion made a parade to the foul line Tuesday evening, and defeated Parkview Junior High School's seventh grade girls basketball team in the championship of the Illinois Elementary School Class 3A regional tournament, 24-20.

The host Lady Lions were 12 of 16 from the foul stripe, as the Lady Braves were whistled for 19 fouls. PJHS went to the line just twice and missed both free shots, as Albion was called for 10 fouls.

PJHS blanked the Lady Lions in the opening period, and held leads of 4-0, 8-5 and 14-11 at the quarter stops. Albion outscored PJHS 13-6 in the final period - hitting seven of 14 foul shots in the process - to earn the win.

Abby Gartner scored eight points for the Lady Braves, who finished with a 9-10 mark. Maizie Organ added six points, Calandra Donley four and Nicole Gray two.

Albion will travel to Toledo for sectional play next week. The Lady Lions will battle Teutopolis at 6 p.m. Wednesday for the right to play in the state finals starting Dec. 7.

Albion will host the IESA Class 8-3A regional tournament starting Monday.

Fourth-seeded Robinson will face fifth-seeded Red Hill in a 6 p.m. play-in game Monday. The winner will return at 6 p.m. Tuesday to face top-seeded Newton. In Tuesday's other semifinals, second-seeded Parkview will play third-seeded host Albion at 7:30 p.m.

The regional championship game is set for 6 p.m., Dec. 5.
