Lady Salukis notch first win of season
ALBION - Red Hill High School's girls basketball team led from start to finish Monday in the process of earning its first victory of the season.

The Lady Salukis (1-4, 1-2 Little Illini Conference) allowed only one point during the middle two quarters on the way to a 45-21 victory over the Lady Lions. Red Hill led 11-8, 26-8 and 30-9 at the quarter stops.

Jamesha Western got off to a quick start for Red Hill, and finished with a game-high 19 points. Western scored eight of her points in the opening quarter.

Heather Perry also had a big night for RHHS, finishing with 18 points. Perry, who hit seven field goals and was perfect in four trips to the foul stripe, scored 10 of her points while RHHS was outscoring Edwards County 15-0 in the second quarter.

Macee Weiss added five points, Cheyanne Moan two and Maran Tennis one to round out the Red Hill attack.

Kristin Schmittler led the Lady Lions with 15 points.

Red Hill outrebounded the Lady Lions, 34-20. Western garnered 12 boards to lead the way.

Red Hill made 15 turnovers, while forcing 12.

The Lady Salukis will complete the pre-Christmas portion of their schedule Thursday when they host Newton.
