Olney nips Lawrence County wrestling team, 42-38
ALBION - All Red Hill High School's basketball team needed Tuesday night was a little more time.

"Another minute, maybe two, we would have won this game," said Red Hill coach Bryan Havill after the 47-44 Little Illini Conference loss to host Edwards County. "But we ran out of time."

Edwards County outscored the Salukis 20-2 in a disastrous second period and took a 28-16 lead to the break. The Salukis closed to within 36-26 after three quarters and continued to narrow the margin throughout the final period. However, the Salukis were never able to get closer than the final three-point margin.

The Salukis had an early 8-2 advantage when sophomore guard Dalton Murray left the game with a sprained ankle. Murray had scored two of the Salukis' four baskets to that point.

In addition, sophomore Tanner Stoltz, the Salukis' other primary ball-handler, was forced to the bench early with two fouls.

"I'll be honest, we got rattled," said Havill, whose team fell to 3-13 overall and 1-3 in the LIC. "We were without both of our point guards, and we got a little frustrated. We had a lot of combinations that had never been together on the floor, and (Edwards County) was able to take a pretty good lead at halftime."

Jake Allen topped the Salukis with 16 points in the loss. Allen scored three baskets in the fourth period, trying to lead the Salukis from behind. Stoltz added 13 points, all after halftime.

Logan Potter paced three Lions in double figures with 19 points. Potter made six 3-pointers in the game, including two in both the second and third periods.

Kevin Schuh added 14 points and Jace Borowiak 10 in the victory.

Edwards County claimed the junior varsity game, 47-33. Kameron Vinsel led the Salukis with 13 points.

The Salukis hope to get back into the win column Friday, when they host Hutsonville.
