Wolves take care of Red Hill Salukis, 70-35
FLORA - Flora's Bryce Pearce nearly outscored Red Hill High School's basketball team all by him self Monday evening, as the host Wolves doubled the score on the Salukis, 70-35, in Little Illini Conference play.

The Salukis reeled off six straight points to tie the game at 17 with 3:30 left in the opening half.

Flora (11-4, 4-1 LIC) scored the final 13 points of the half to take a commanding lead at the break, 30-17. The Wolves continued to dominate the game, turning the 13-0 spree into a 37-3 run that spanned the second and third periods. At one point during the streak, the Salukis went nearly seven minutes without scoring.

Flora led 54-20 after three periods before being outscoring the Salukis 16-15 in the final stanza.

Pearce, who hit 12 of 18 shots, scored a game-high 31 points to pace the Wolves. The 5-11 junior was seven of 11 from beyond the 3-point arc. He totaled 18 points in the first half, one more than Red Hill's total at the break.

Ethan Leib, a 6-4 senior, hit eight of 13 shots on his way to adding 16 points for the Wolves.

Red Hill had nobody in double figures. Tanner Stoltz and Jake Allen led the Salukis (4-14, 2-5 LIC) with nine points apiece. Kameron Vinsel came off the bench to score six in the final period, while Zach Breault and Ryan Kolb scored five each and Steven Ramsaran hit a free throw.

Flora also won the junior varsity game, 54-45. Vinsel led the Salukis with 14 points while Dalton Thacker contributed 13.

The Salukis will travel to Olney to begin Little Illini Conference play at 4 p.m. Friday against Oblong.
