Spitler distributes in Lawrence, Jasper counties
NEWTON - The Maxine E. Spitler Foundation awarded grants to 16 organizations from Jasper and Lawrence County, Monday. During the ceremony, held at the Sunrise Youth Center and Community Building a total of $25,832.09 was given to the various organizations chosen to receive funding for their projects. This year, requests for funding in the grant applications exceeded $54,000.

Green named LHS head grid coach
LAWRENCEVILLE - The Lawrenceville High School football team is without a head coach no longer. On Tuesday morning, a special board meeting was held at LHS to decide upon a coach for the 2018 season after the departure of Greg Wood, who spent the last seven seasons as the Indians' play-caller. After sifting through candidates, the board members decided to go with an in-house option in Chad Green.
